England's World Cup squad: From Abraham to Bowen - who will make Southgate's Qatar selection & what are the betting odds?

The 2022 World Cup is fast approaching.

In less than six months, the top national teams on the planet will battle it out in Qatar for the iconic gold trophy.

Every football fan dreams of representing their national team, but only a tiny group ever get to do so.

A list of 25 players will travel to Qatar in November to wear the famous England jersey, so who will make the final cut? GOAL takes a look at the favourites to get a spot on the plane.

There are some players who are practically guaranteed a spot on the plane to Qatar, barring injury ruling them out of the competition.

Gareth Southgate gave an indication as to who is in the frame for a place in the squad when he announced the list of 27 names called up for the matches against Hungary, Germany and Italy in June.

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen and Leicester full-back James Justin were called up for the first time, suggesting they could be in with a chance of going to Qatar.

Bowen, fresh off a fine season with the Hammers, is 10/11 to get a place in the team with bet365, while James Justin is 5/2.

Tammy Abraham, previously 7/4, had an excellent debut Serie A campaign with Roma and has been cut to odds of 5/4.

Fikayo Tomori, who had an impressive 2021-22 campaign for Serie A winners AC Milan, is now6/4 having previously been set at 4/1.

Jordan Henderson, Eric Dier, Emile Smith Rowe and Tyrone Mings are notable absentees from the latest squad.

Dier has played well for Tottenham since Antonio Conte took charge to help his side book a place in next season’s Champions League. He can still be backed at 10/1to secure a spot in the squad, while Mings is 7/4.

Henderson, who was crucial for Liverpool as they won two cups and reached the Champions League final, is still odds on at4/7to travel to Qatar, while Arsenal’s Smith Rowe is 3/1.

At the moment, Declan Rice, Harry Kane and Jordan Pickford are the shortest-priced players to be picked by Southgate at 1/20.

Phil Foden is next at 1/16, while Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, and Raheem Sterling are available at short odds of1/10.
