Denver Broncos vs Arizona Cardinals team news

Denver Broncos team news

The Broncos, meanwhile, continued their scorching preseason form with a 20-9 dismantling of San Francisco. Denver actually trailed 9-0 after the opening quarter before their defense turned into a brick wall, forcing four turnovers — three of them interceptions — and completely flipping the momentum. Rookie Bo Nix had a quieter outing, going 6-of-11 for 31 yards and surrendering a safety on an intentional grounding call in the end zone.

But Jarrett Stidham lit the spark in the second quarter, delivering a near-flawless 14-for-15 passing performance for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 36 yards on the ground. Tyler Badie chipped in 32 rushing yards, and Trent Sherfield Sr. was the star through the air, hauling in all three of his targets for 73 yards and a score.

Denver now boasts a five-game preseason winning streak, covering the spread in every one of those matchups and topping 30 points in four of them. Arizona, though, will be eager to spoil that run — especially on a field where they were humbled just a year ago.

Arizona Cardinals team news

Arizona comes in riding the momentum of a solid 23-10 triumph over Kansas City, a game that saw them outgain the defending champs 355-249 in total offense. The second quarter was all Cardinals, as Jacoby Brissett tossed a pair of touchdown strikes — one to Emari Demercado, the other to Xavier Weaver — to put them firmly in control. Brissett finished 5-of-8 for 81 yards and those two scores, while Kyler Murray and Clayton Tune each had a pick.

On the ground, Bam Knight churned out 51 yards on just six carries, helping Arizona rack up 140 rushing yards on 35 attempts. Defensively, the Cards snatched two interceptions and limited KC to 92 rushing yards, though both sides went ice-cold after halftime, combining for only six points the rest of the way.
