U.S. men's national team striker Josh Sargent scored a spectacular solo effort in the dying minutes of Norwich City's Championship clash with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, with the 24-year-old finding the back of the net in the 92nd minute of the contest to lift the Canaries to a 1-0 victory.

The strike was Sargent's 13th goal of the Championship campaign, and it handed them a crucial three points as the race for promotion to the Premier League heats up as the campaign winds down.

With the victory, Norwich shot up to 10th place in the standings on 52 points - while they trail sixth-place West Brom by just five points in the final playoff spot of the league table.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sargent, while on USMNT duty in the CONCACF Nations League in March, was blanked in front of net in the lone match he played in. The striker started the semifinal match against Panama, but his scoreless streak on the international stage - dating back to 2019 - continued as he did not find the back of the net.

It's been nearly six years since he struck for the U.S. - even though he's just 24 years old.

For the Canaries in 2024-25, though, he's been nothing short of spectacular with 13 goals and five assists across all competitions for the English side.
