UEFA Nations League draw: England to face Republic of Ireland in second tier as France, Italy & Belgium make up group of death in League A
England and Ireland have been paired together in the UEFA Nations League, while France have been drawn in the same group as Belgium and Italy.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The draw for the 2024-25 campaign was made on Thursday, with England dropping down to League B after being relegated last time out. Scotland were moved up to League A and found themselves in the same group as Portugal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The draw means that England and Ireland will meet in a competitive match for the first time since 1991, when they met in a Euro 92 qualifying game.
Spain went on to win the competition last year when they beat Croatia 5-4 in a penalty shootout after playing out a goalless draw.
WHAT NEXT?
The UEFA Nations League will start in September, with the league phase ending in November. The League A quarter-finals will then go ahead in March 2025 before the semi-finals, third place play-off and final take place in June.
