  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Sevilla parted ways with Diego Alonso just 67 days after his arrival as the Spanish club lost 3-0 to Getafe during the weekend. They had managed to win just twice in their last 13 matches across all competitions and are languishing in the relegation zone.

    Former Watford and Getafe coach Quique Sanchez Flores will now take charge of the team as confirmed by the club on Monday.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The 58-year-old coach was last in charge of Getafe during the 2022/23 season. He was relieved of his duties in April this year as the club eventually finished 15th in the league.

    Sanchez has experience of managing clubs like Atletico Madrid, Benfica and Watford and was also in charge of Real Madrid youth teams earlier in his career.
