    WHAT HAPPENED?

The United boss is determined to sign a wide player in the summer transfer window as Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are unlikely to return after their respective loan spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa. As a result, Amorim is eyeing a move for Sporting CP star Trincao, who scored a brace in Portugal's latest victory over Denmark in the Nations League.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Per The Sun, Newcastle United and Arsenal have also shown interest in signing the winger in the summer but the Red Devils' biggest competitor in the transfer market will be Trincao's former club Barcelona, who reportedly retain a buy-back option of little more than £20 million ($25m).

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Despite the competition from the Blaugrana, ex-Sporting boss Amorim remains hopeful that his past relationship with the player will convince him to move to Manchester ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Trincao, who is a left-footed right winger, is capable of operating on both flanks and can also be deployed in the middle.
