    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lewandowski has not been at his illustrious best this season, despite putting up respectable goal and assist numbers. When the legendary striker signed from Bayern Munich, he brought heightened expectations and was integral to the club's La Liga success last season. However, Barcelona's struggles on the pitch this season have led fingers to be pointed, with Lewandowski's occasional poor performance singled out. With the forward on an extremely high salary at a club with known financial troubles, the club may be looking to shift his wages.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Lewandowski won the Pichichi Trophy last season, awarded to the league's top scorer, without scoring a single penalty. He became the first player to do so since Dani Guiza in 2008. Jude Bellingham leads the charts this season.
