Monaco right-back Vanderson makes Man Utd and Barcelona admission amid transfer links

The Brazilian defender is said to be attracting attention from Old Trafford and Camp Nou. He has been linked with La Liga champions Barca for some time, but they opted to take Joao Cancelo on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

It is suggested that interest from Catalunya will be revisited in 2024, while Premier League giants United are also in the market for a new long-term solution on the right of their defensive unit. Vanderson, at 22 years of age and with plenty of potential still to be unlocked, would tick an important box for the Red Devils.

Vanderson has told AS when asked about the speculation he continues to generate: “It’s great to hear that Barca and United want you. It’s great to know that your name is being mentioned by the big clubs.” He added when pressed further on where his focus lies in the present: “We are starting the season well with Monaco, now I’m just concentrating on that.”

Barca do have a purchase option when it comes to Portugal international Cancelo, but Financial Fair Play issues may scupper any deal there. That could open the door for Vanderson to head for Camp Nou, although United will continue to monitor his situation closely.
