Man City consider January bid for £50m Club Brugge and Canada star Tajon Buchanan

Pep Guardiola is reportedly interested in bringing in the Canadian international in the January transfer window who is expected to £50m to Manchester, according to the Daily Star. The 24-year-old winger still has 18 months left in his existing contract but he has made it clear that he won't stay at the Belgian club beyond 2025.

Buchanan predominantly operates on the right flank but can play as a right wing-back as well, which has attracted Guardiola as he looks to enhance his options on that side. Since the departure of Riyad Mahrez to the Saudi Pro League in the summer, the Catalan manager has deployed either Phil Foden or Bernardo Silva on the right side.

The 24-year-old moved to Belgium from MLS side New England Revolution in 2021 and won the Belgian Pro League in his debut season. In the ongoing campaign, Buchanan has scored three goals and provided four assists in 19 matches across all competitions.

For now, City will focus on getting all three points against Luton Town on Sunday after going four straight Premier League games without a win. They are currently fourth in the league, seven points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
