The Bundesliga side have accepted that the attacking midfielder will definitely leave the club before long Sky Sport reports. However, Leverkusen hope that the 20-year-old, whose contract in Germany runs until 2027, will agree to stay until the summer of 2025, at least.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The German team may have a hard time convincing Wirtz to stay put for the time being, though, given the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid are interested in signing him. While Wirtz has not given the nod to any team at this point, Sky reports he would rather join the German giants before going abroad.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Wirtz, who joined Leverkusen from Koln in 2020, has scored six goals and registered 10 assists in 18 games for a Leverkusen side currently top of the Bundesliga. Xabi Alonso's team have taken 34 points from their first 12 matches in the German top flight, leaving them two points clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich.
