Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala relishing ‘dream’ Man Utd clash at Old Trafford as former Chelsea youth star reveals he ‘enjoyed watching’ Red Devils as a kid

The Germany international spent eight years on English soil with Chelsea's academy before he signed for Bayern in 2019. During his time with the Blues, he visited Old Trafford on several occasions and is well aware of the prestige and respect that the iconic venue in Manchester commands in world football.

It could be an intimidating atmosphere as the 12th man will look to spur the home team to get the full three points against Thomas Tuchel's side to keep their hopes alive in the Champions League, but Musiala remains confident in his abilities and wants to give his best.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Musiala said: "It's the dream of many kids to play here. When I was younger I always enjoyed watching the games. I think the atmosphere will be great tomorrow. United have had a lot of ups and downs this season but they will be up for it tomorrow and they definitely have quality"

Musiala might not be playing a full game on Tuesday evening, though, as the 20-year-old is gradually getting into the fold after recovering from a hamstring tear. Although he featured for around 20 minutes in Bayern's 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon, he will be protected by Tuchel as the Bundesliga champions have little stake in the match, having already qualified for the last-16 as group leaders.

“Jamal can’t play for 90 minutes yet. He’ll either start or come off the bench. I haven’t decided yet,” Tuchel told reporters.

Bayern are undefeated in their last 39 games in the group stage of the Champions League, but that run could be under threat in Manchester. Tuchel will be expected to ring the changes against United to keep his starting XI fresh for a crucial Bundesliga meeting with Stuttgart this weekend.

It will be a sort of homecoming for Harry Kane as well, since it will be his first match in England after his Tottenham Hotspur exit in the summer. He was strongly linked with the Red Devils prior to his move to Germany at Bayern, and Erik ten Hag's struggling side have just one victory in their five group matches, with 14 goals conceded, and are dependent on other results to advance.
