Atletico Madrid are planning to launch a fresh bid for Cristian Romero as the Argentine is set to reject Tottenham's contract offer. Spurs chief Daniel Levy has reportedly decided to offer the defender a new contract, although the player will reject it. Diego Simeone is determined to sign a new defender and is prioritising the former Atalanta star.

WHAT HAPPENED?
According to journalist Fernando Czyz, Spurs chief Levy has offered a new and lucrative deal to the Albiceleste star, but Romero is likely to reject it. It is now up to Levy to make the final call on whether to make the sale in the summer transfer window.

Czyz also claimed Romero reportedly told Levy: "It’s not a question of money, but of professional challenges. I love Tottenham and they will always be in my heart."

The Argentine journalist further claimed that Atletico Madrid are offering a fee in the region of €55m plus €10m and would be willing to increase the bonus amount by another €5m. However, journalist Ruben Uria has claimed the north London club value the defender at €82 million (£70m/$96m).
