    World Cup winner Ozil has revealed that, over the course of his distinguished career, he sought to master the art of hitting the ball into the ground when one-on-one with a goalkeeper – allowing him to find the back of the net in style.

    Said skill is not easy to pull off, with there little time in which to weigh up your options when presented with a sight of the target. Swedish sensation Gyokeres does, however, appear to have taken inspiration from ex-Germany international Ozil.

    Gyokeres bagged a hat-trick for Sporting in their stunning 4-1 Champions League mauling of Premier League title holders Manchester City, with his first of the night getting a nod from Ozil as he ran away from the Blues defence and bundled beyond Ederson in calculated style. Ozil has saluted said “chip shot”.
