The day aptly gets kicked off in Champagne, as the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes hit the road to face #19 Illinois. There’s not too much faith for the Illini here, who opened as 13.5-point underdogs, but the number is a bit tougher to hit for Buckeye backers now at -14.5.
We’re still seeing nearly all of the money (~95%) on Ohio State, even with that 14.5-point spread, but 13.5 (-140) is where I want this number.
One of my favorite props on the entire CFB Saturday slate is Buckeyes QB Julian Sayin throwing 3+ TD passes (+130). The Illini have only allowed one QB to throw for 3+ TD passes this season, but they have allowed three different QBs to throw for 300+ yards – including each of the last two opponents. Essentially, teams are moving the ball on Illinois, but they’re scoring touchdowns on the ground rather than through the air. Sayin has 3+ TD passes in three of his last four games, so may the odds be in our favor.
In the other high-profile noon kickoff today, oh boy – we’ve got an upset alert! Missouri is only a 2.5-point underdog at home against Alabama, and that’s way down from the opening 6.5 number. Mizzou’s ML also dropped from +185 to its current spot of +140, which I will jump on before it goes any lower.
So, why will Missouri pull the upset today? Ahmad Hardy.
OK, the home crowd helps too, but Hardy has been an absolute menace to bring down this season. The sophomore speedster has rushed for 100+ yards in every game this season, and he’s topped today's prop number of 91.5 rushing yards (-110) in 13 of his last 17 games.
A lot of teams have chosen not to run against Bama, but Hardy has at least 22 carries in each of his last four games, so opportunity will not be an issue today.
