Talent Chawapiwa: Kaizer Chiefs wanted to sign me

Baroka FC star Talent Chawapiwa has confirmed that there was interest in him from Kaizer Chiefs, but a move failed to materialise in the last transfer window.

According to reports, Bakgaga were keen to keep hold of their talisman which saw the move fall through.

Chawapiwa was consistently linked with moves to both Mamelodi Sundowns and the Soweto giants.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old has now revealed that there was an offer made from Chiefs for his services.

“It’s true, Chiefs wanted to sign me, my manager spoke to Chiefs, but the move didn’t go through, I don’t know what happened,” Chawapiwa was quoted as saying by Isolezwe.

The Zimbabwe international has been one of Baroka’s star players of recent times and it could prove difficult for the club to keep hold of him should Chiefs come calling once again.

“I still believe I can join Chiefs. As a player you hope to go to the next level,” he concluded.

Chawapiwa will now need to put his head down and work in order to earn his desired move. The winger has made nine league appearances this season, although he is yet to have the same impact as Baroka currently find themselves in 15th place on the log.

Meanwhile, reports that have recently been doing the rounds suggested that Chawapiwa’s compatriot Willard Katsande may have tried to lure him to Naturena.

The player though, has reportedly refused to confirm nor deny that was the case, according to Phakaaathi.

Nevertheless, Chawapiwa was part of the Baroka side which booked their place in the next round of the Telkom Knockout this past weekend, and fans will hope that he can help his side move up the PSL table, starting with victory over Bloemfontein Celtic this coming weekend.
