Sneijder: Netherlands lost 3-0, but didn't play that badly!

Wesley Sneijder admits the Netherlands only have themselves to blame after qualification for Euro 2016 was taken out of their hands.

Oranje's poor campaign continued on Sunday as they fell to a crushing 3-0 defeat by Turkey, with their opponents leapfrogging them into third spot and ending their automatic qualification aspirations.

Despite another poor result, Sneijder insists his team were not outplayed in their Group A qualifier but admits they can only look within for answers.

"A layman would say that we had no chance if you see it was 3-0. But we didn't play that bad and had a couple of good chances.

"But the reality shows that we are on the 4th spot and we don't have our chances in our own hands. We can only blame ourselves for that."

With Iceland and the Czech Republic having already sealed their place in next summer's tournament, the experienced midfielder was unable to give reasons for his country's poor showing.

"I don't know what the problem is," Sneijder confessed.

"It could be a matter of quality, but also concentration. You can't train that, it has to come from yourselves."
