Mesut Ozil's FIFA 19 team: Arsenal star's M10 Team pro gamers & esports ambitions

After being the ambassador for the inaugural FIFA eWorld Cup earlier this year, Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil announced that he was forming his own competitive gaming FIFA team, The M10 Team

The German is the second Premier League footballer to do so, following in the footsteps of Leicester City’s Christian Fuch’s and his team: No Fuchs Given.

Team Ozil is aided in its recruitment by eSportsReputation, a German esports agency and they didn’t take long to start acquiring talent. Yesterday, the team revealed another player in their growing roster.

According to reports from German media outlet Sport Bild, Ozil is looking to initially start off with five players, all of whom will come from different continents. The aim is to have a player from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and South America.

That report appears to be accurate so far as Ozil announced European Fatih ‘Ustun’ Ustun as his first signing. The Turkish player had a strong year, winning the FIFA eClub World Cup with his former team, Brondby.

That signing was a signal of intent from the Gunners midfielder, he wasn’t going to play it safe by forming an academy like Ruud Gullit, he wanted winners.

The M10 Team then went one step better with the signing of their South American representative, Pedro 'PResende97' Resende of Brazil.

PResende97 finished the season in style, placing in the Xbox top eight of the eWorld Cup after being eliminated at the hands of eventual champion, Mossad ‘MSDossary’ Aldossary.

Team Ozil recently revealed their third signing: 16-year-old Josh ‘Squirrel’ Banh from the United States who qualified for the FUT Champions Cup in Manchester. He also qualified for the FIFA Interactive World Cup the year prior but wasn’t old enough to participate.

eSportsReputation released a statement claiming this signing show’s Ozil’s long-term commitment to esports saying: “He [Ozil] is not just interested in signing athletes who are already big stars but also young talents with the prospect of a golden future.”

This left Africa and Asia and the only remaining continents Ozil needed to tick off his list and on Wednesday it was revealed that Indian gamer Siddh "jenasid" Chandarana will join the World Cup winner's esports camp.
