Leicester City v Leeds United Betting: Foxes to oust Whites in entertaining League Cup clash

After overseeing a victory in Swansea in his first game in temporary command, Leicester City caretaker manager Michael Appleton will be hoping for more success when his side take on Leeds United in Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash.

The former Oxford United boss inspired his side to a 2-1 win at the Liberty Stadium in their first game following Craig Shakespeare’s dismissal, and can be backed at 8/15 (1.53) with dabblebet to maintain that form on home turf.

However, the Whites pulled off a penalty shootout victory away at Burnley in the last round, and are on offer at 11/2 (6.50) to upset more Premier League opposition by coming out on top at the King Power Stadium.

Five of the last seven encounters between these sides on this ground have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 10/3 (4.33) on this one going into extra-time after yet another stalemate.

While they may have been in the Premier League relegation zone when Shakespeare received his P45, the sacking did seem rather harsh and premature given the circumstances.

The Foxes’ only four defeats so far this campaign had been suffered against Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, and they had lost just once in five at the time of Shakespeare’s dismissal.

Having extended that record to just one defeat in six with the victory over Swansea, the hosts should feel confident of recording another morale-boosting victory when they take on Championship opposition that has lost three of the last four games.

However, given they ended a run of three consecutive defeats with an emphatic 3-0 away win over Bristol City - and having scored twice away to high-flying Burnley in the previous round – Thomas Christiansen’s team will fancy their chances of at least giving a decent account of themselves.

All in all, odds of 21/10 (3.10) are well worth backing on Leicester coming out on top in a match featuring goals at both ends when they take on a Leeds team with 13 goals to their name in eight away fixtures this campaign.
