Latest Premier League Odds: Puel red-hot favourite in the sack race after Wolves defeat

David Wagner's departure from Huddersfield Town has seen Claude Puel reinstated at the front of the sack race market once more.

This betting heat relates to which Premier League manager leaves their position next and the Leicester City boss is just 1/2 (1.50) with 888Sport.

While the East Midlands club still sit inside the top half of the table, there appears a growing frustration within the fan base with the Frenchman's negative approach.

Despite an eighth place finish and a League Cup final appearance, Puel was sacked by Southampton two seasons ago and the current rumblings of discontent have a familiar feeling to them.

The team were booed off at the final whistle after a 2-1 defeat to 10-man Southampton in their last home match and now face an intimidating run of games including clashes with Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham.

Heavily rotated line-ups in both domestic cup competitions have ended any hopes of silverware this season and added to the pressure on the Foxes boss.

Leicester have conceded the first goal in 15 of their 23 Premier League games this season. While some of those have ended in positive results, a trend of slow starts and defensive tactics don't bode well for Puel's long-term future.

The question now, might be when Puel leaves the King Power Stadium - rather than if - but it might well be the case that the 57-year-old isn't in immediate danger while the Foxes sit comfortably in mid-table, despite media reports to the contrary.

Part of the reason Puel is so short in the market is the lack of any other Premier League boss under any real pressure. Marco Silva is 10/1 (11.0) to be the next manager to leave his post while Maurizio Sarri is 12/1 (13.0) together with Cardiff's Neil Warnock.

Former Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is 14/1 (15.0) after Fulham lost their 15th match of the league season, leaving them seven points adrift of safety heading into the final third of the campaign.
