ISL 2018-19: Pradeep Mohanraj joins Delhi Dynamos

Delhi Dynamos have further strengthened their squad depth for the 2018-19 Indian Super League (ISL) with the addition of Pradeep Mohanraj.

The midfielder joins the GMS Shipping-owned side after a stint with Chennai City FC in the I-League last season. This will be his first ever stint with an ISL side.

The Tamil Nadu-born started his career at Chirag United Kerala before being a regular at Mumbai-based Air India in the I-League in 2012-13.

He also won the 2012 Durand Cup during his time with the Airmen. The 27-year-old has also turned out for Mumbai Tigers and Mumbai FC before taking the plunge to the lower divisions with Ozone FC in 2017.

Mohanraj provides a good cover for the central midfield options for head coach Josep Gombau. Domestic talents Vinit Rai, Bikramjit Singh and Siam Hangal appear to be ahead in the pecking order than Mohanraj. He has also played in defence for Chennai City and is a versatile option.

However, Josep Gombau indicated that player rotation would be on his mind given the Dynamos face a tough challenge of playing five games in fourteen days in late October, where Mohanraj could get a chance to impress.

Delhi Dynamos play Kolkata side Peerless SC on Friday in their last pre-season friendly in India before they fly off to Doha on September 4.
