Samuel Onyango is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards and will automatically be locked out of the game. Coach Hassan Oktay told Goal that captain Shakava remains a doubt after sustaining a knock during the team’s 2-1 win against Kakamega Homeboyz in the league outing.

“We are in big trouble now. Shakava picked what looked like a very serious injury against Homeboyz. We will have to monitor the player and see if he will be fit enough to face Petro Atletico on Sunday."

Kenneth Muguna is also a doubt after suffering a knock during the away match against Zamalek in Egypt.

Match Preview

Victory for either side will be enough to buy a place in the last eight of the competition; Petro Atletico is second on seven points, one more than bottom placed Gor Mahia.

The Kenyan Premier League champions will be trying to avenge the 2-1 defeat suffered in the first leg away in Angola. In Group D, Gor Mahia has conceded most goals (nine) after five games, and with a return of seven goals, the goal difference is negative two. Atletico has scored six goals and conceded five.

Petro Atletico has won two, drawn one and lost two of their five Group D games as compared to Gor Mahia who have won two and lost three in five matches.

Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge is among the top scorers in the competition having netted thrice, a goal more than Brazilian Tiago Azulao of Petro Atletico.

Last season, Gor Mahia failed to progress past the group stages after falling to Rayon Sports of Rwanda at home and later to USM Alger in Algeria.
