Gor Mahia to face Equatorial Guinea side in Caf competition

Gor Mahia will face Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea in Caf Champions League.

The Kenyan champions will host Leones Vegetarianos between February 9-11, 2018, for the first leg match before traveling to Equatorial Guinea for the return leg a week later.

The return leg will be hosted between February 16 and 18. The winner between Gor Mahia and Vegetarianos will meet the winner between ASAC Concorde of Mauritania and Etoile du Sahil from Tunisia in the first round.

The first round will be staged between March 9/11 and 16/18.

The draw for the preliminary rounds of Caf Interclubs 2018 was conducted on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, during the meeting of Caf Interclubs Committee at Caf Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Fifty-nine (59) clubs were engaged for the Total Caf Champions League 2018 and fifty-four (54) for the Total Caf Confederation Cup 2018.

Only eight federation did not engage their clubs namely Cape Verde, Chad, Eritrea, Namibia, Reunion, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone and Somalia.

Leones Vegetarianos is a club-based in the city of Malabo. They currently play in Equatoguinean first division.

The club was founded as Vegetarianos CF by the Spaniard Juan Manuel Rojas, a vegetarian man from Granada, who arrived in Equatorial Guinea in 2001 and years later went to India, where he staged a hunger strike.
