The Black Stars are now the 52nd best national soccer team in the world, one place better than their position same month last year

Ghana have moved one place up in the latest Fifa World Ranking released on Thursday.

November’s ranking sees Ghana move from a previous 52nd position of October to a current 51 spot, with an accompanying rise in total accumulated points by six.

Placed 53rd in November last year, Ghana now find themselves between Nigeria (50) and Venezuela (52) on the ladder.

On continental level, Ghana, however, made a step back to the ninth spot, only ahead of Cote d'Ivoire in the top 10.

Senegalese, who have risen to 23rd on the world ranking - their best ever in history - have taken over Africa's top spot, ahead of Tunisia (27), Egypt (31), DR Congo (36), Morocco (40), Burkina Faso (44), Cameroon (45) and Nigeria (50).

Back on the global stage, there was no change among the top five, with Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium sitting first to fifth in that order.

Having moved two places up, Spain now hold the sixth spot, while Poland, Switzerland, France and Chile complete the top ten in that order.

Ghana’s highest ever performance since the ranking’s introduction in August 1993 remains a 14 place in February 2008, while its worst placement was an 89 position in June 2004.

The Black Stars’ last assignment was a 1-1 home draw with Egypt in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying earlier this month.
