Germany Women vs Nigeria Women Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Germany have recorded three consecutive wins at the Women's World Cup so far to breeze into the last 16.

The bookmakers believe they'll be able to get the better of a Nigeria side that qualified for the knockout stages as one of the best third-place finishers.

Latest Odds

William Hill are just 1/6 (1.18) about a win for Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side in Grenoble.

The Super Falcons got the better of South Korea on matchday two and are 12/1 (13.0) to spring a shock in this one. A draw in 90 minutes is available at 11/2 (6.50) with the same firm.

Team News

Dzsenifer Marozsan broke a toe in Germany's opening win over China and the 27-year-old could miss the rest of the tournament.

Defender Ngozi Ebere was sent off against France last time out and will miss this last 16 clash through suspension.

Preview

Despite a perfect record in France, the bookmakers haven't been overly impressed with Germany's performances and their prospects of being crowned world champions.

Initially an 11/2 (6.50) chance in the outright market, Germany are out to 13/2 (7.50) in William Hill's outright winner market despite their nine-point haul.

The favourites have been improving with each passing game though. Hard-fought 1-0 wins over China and Spain were followed by a thumping 4-0 victory against South Africa to round off the group stage.

Nigeria pushed France hard last time out but fell short thanks to a re-taken Wendie Renard penalty in Rennes.

Predictions

The key in this match looks to be Germany's defence which has proved watertight so far. Three consecutive clean sheets suggest Nigeria will have their work cut out to make an impact in Grenoble.

The Super Falcons' only goals in the World Cup so far have come against South Korea and the favourites look worth backing to keep Thomas Dennerby's side at bay.

William Hill are 5/6 (1.83) about Germany winning "to nil" (i.e win and keep and a clean sheet) and that looks worth serious consideration.

The two-time winners are tough to break down and while Nigeria may make things difficult initially, they could fall short in their efforts to make a mark in the final third.
