Dimitri Foulquier is eager to secure another move away from Watford, with it possible that the Frenchman could leave Vicarage Road without making a competitive appearance.
The 25-year-old full-back was signed by the Hornets in the summer of 2017, but immediately sent out on loan to Strasbourg.
He was acquired after impressing in Spain with Granada, but has been given no opportunity to prove his worth in England.
With that situation unlikely to change under Javi Gracia, the former France U21 international admits that he needs to look elsewhere for game time – be that in a loan deal or permanent transfer.
Foulquier told Goal when quizzed about his future plans: “I must make another transfer or take in another loan.
“At Watford the path is blocked so I’m looking for a good project.”
Pressed on whether he has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Hornets, he added: “They have not told me that they are not counting on me anymore, but they told me that it would be difficult this season.
“They told me to be patient and to consider going on loan again. But I am not against a permanent move either.”
Having previously graced Ligue 1 and La Liga, Foulquier claims to have already attracted interest from afar.
He said: “My desire is to play and to enjoy my football.
“At Watford that is not possible so I will inevitably look to go elsewhere.
“There are options at the moment but if they do not happen, that is because we didn’t manage to find an agreement or the project on offer did not interest me.”
A return to his homeland has been mooted, having taken in 19 appearances for Strasbourg across all competitions last season, but nothing is being ruled out at this stage.
“I do not have a priority,” said Foulquier.
“What I want is to stay in a big league. That is the only criteria I have.”
