While the hosts will face Cameroon, the cup holders will square off against South Africa at the group stage of the continental gathering

Hosts Ghana and heavyweights Nigeria have been handed knotty groups for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations, which runs between November 17 and December 1.

The final draw for the tournament took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Sunday.

Named the two top seeds, rivals Ghana and Nigeria were placed in Groups A and B respectively ahead of the event, eliminating any chance of a match-up in the group stage.

The Black Queens, three-time finalists, were ultimately pitted against three-time finalists Cameroon, Mali and Algeria in Group A.

The Super Falcons, the most successful nation in the history of the tournament with eight titles, on the other hand, will battle against three-time finalists South Africa, Kenya and Zambia in Group B.

While Ghana will open their campaign against Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 17, Nigeria will begin their quest for a ninth title with a big encounter against South Africa at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Mali and Zambia will lock horns with Cameroon and Kenya respectively to round up matchday one's action.

Ghana 2018 will be the 11th edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
