Eleazar Rodgers eager to end Telkom Knockout jinx with Bidvest Wits

Bidvest Wits striker Eleazar Rodgers hopes to end his Telkom Knockout Cup jinx when they meet Bloemfontein Celtic at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

“It won’t be easy, but hopefully this time around I will be able to help win the trophy. I’ve been close on two occasions,” Rodgers told the media.

While on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, the lanky forward was on the losing end, going down 1-0 to the self-same Celtic in 2012.

He was denied the title again with Platinum Stars, where they lost out 3-2 in extra time to SuperSport United in the 2014 final in Soweto.

“The Telkom and the Nedbank Cup are the only trophies I haven’t won in South Africa. My dream is to win all the cups,” he said.

The Students will have to bring their A-game to defeat Siwelele.

“We don’t think we are going to work them over easily. We have to bring our A-game to beat them. They always want to do well and they always give us problems,” Rodgers added.

“I wouldn’t say we are not doing well in the league. Obviously in the cup you have to win to advance to the next round, but the league is like a marathon," he said.

“We have been playing well but we have been conceding goals and we haven’t been winning,” Rodgers concluded.
