Asamoah assured starting place against Lazio on Sunday

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will return to Juventus' starting set-up on Sunday when the Old Lady play Lazio in the Italian Serie A.

Having started back-to-back games against Bologna and Atalanta at left-back, the 28-year-old was relegated to the bench as claimed a 2-1 win over Fiorentina last week.

As earlier revealed by coach Massimiliano Allegri, Asamoah's snub had been due to a change from a four-back formation to a three-back system, and this turns a reversion to the former approach for Sunday's Lazio clash in the Ghanaian's favour.

“I’ll field a four-man defence on Sunday: Stephan Lichtsteiner, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Kwadwo Asamoah," Allegri said.

"Dani Alves makes the squad too. He’s not in perfect shape yet, but he’s needed, given Alex Sandro’s absence. He could play for around half-an-hour tomorrow.

“I still need to decide whether to go with three in midfield and another three in attack and where Miralem Pjanic will play.

Asamoah has made seven league appearances, involving five starts, thus far this season.

Owing to a recent return from injury, the utility player turned down an opportunity to represent Ghana at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, instead opting to focus on club football.

His decision looks to have been rewarded with what will be his third appearances of the period within which he would have been away with the Black Stars had he accepted Ghana's invite.

He joined Juve from Udinese in 2012.
