South African football lovers took to social media to comment in jest regarding the little impact Cristiano Ronaldo had in Al Nassr's 3-1 loss against Al Ittihad on Thursday in the Super Cup game played at the King Fahd International Stadium.
Prior to the match, the Portugal legend was greeted with Lionel Messi chants from Al-Ittihad fans which were meant to distract him.
Ronaldo played against Messi last week in a friendly and is now settling into domestic action with Al-Nassr following his post-World Cup transfer.
Here is what Mzansi has had to say:

Cristiano Ronaldo has fallen from grace. He is now playing in half-full stadiums, the guy has fallen very hard - Kyle Kal
So everyone pretended to like him, they wanted to confirm if it was really him. Now they chant the GOAT's name in front of him. Thoughts were that he's loved there - Riqui Saekhile Ma
It's sad being Cristiano Ronaldo it's no longer funny - Prøject Bāby TwentyThree
Messi will laugh the whole night - Elias Moseka
Lol! At the farmers league he [Ronaldo] is also failing - Thobani Gudz Phungula
Soon he [Messi] will also be in this league too. And way before 38 - Rishaan Somur
With just one game, Messi also couldn't score when he first arrived in that France's 'Farmers League' - Sanele Mtshali
