Oklahoma State vs Tulsa team news & key players

Oklahoma State Cowboys team news

Redshirt freshman Zane Flores is quickly becoming a central figure for the Cowboys' offense. In their 27-7 opening win over Tennessee-Martin, he hit on 13 of 20 throws for 136 yards while adding a handful of rushing attempts. Back in high school, the Nebraska native earned 2022 Player of the Year honors after racking up 3,117 passing yards with 31 touchdowns, alongside 274 yards and 10 scores on the ground.

In the backfield, redshirt sophomore Kalib Hicks has carried much of the load. Across two outings, he's logged 35 rushes for 119 yards, averaging 3.4 per carry. A transfer with brief experience at Oklahoma, Hicks has totaled 144 career yards on 40 attempts with one touchdown since stepping into the college game.

Tulsa Golden Hurricanes team news

Tulsa's quarterback picture is less certain. Sophomore Kirk Francis remains questionable after a concussion in Week 2, meaning freshman Baylor Hayes could be in line for his second career start. Against Navy, Hayes threw for 189 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-37 passing while also running one in, though he was picked off once. Overall, this year, he’s completed 36 of 54 throws (66.7%) for 323 yards, two scores, and two interceptions.

The Golden Hurricane ground attack leans heavily on senior Dominic Richardson, a former Baylor and Oklahoma State rusher now making his mark at Tulsa. Through three contests, he’s piled up 296 yards and two touchdowns on 53 carries, averaging 5.6 per attempt. His biggest outing came in a 35-7 triumph over Abilene Christian, where he tore off 142 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
