Dabo Swinney's Clemson outfit is hungry to reassert itself after what was, by their lofty standards, a dip. The Tigers still bagged an ACC crown and a playoff spot, but they never quite looked like the juggernaut of old. Ranked No. 4 heading into 2025, Clemson leans on Cade Klubnik, who piloted the nation's 12th-ranked offense last year. With top targets Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco Jr., and T.J. Moore all back, the passing game should hum, though questions linger in the backfield after Phil Mafah's departure. Freshman Gideon Davidson will be thrown straight into the fire.
Defensively, new coordinator Tom Allen inherits a unit that sagged badly against the run and pass. Still, with disruptors TJ Parker (11 sacks in 2024) and Peter Woods up front, there’s hope for a turnaround. Linebacker Sammy Brown brings bite, but the secondary remains shaky until proven otherwise.

Last season’s 9-4 campaign showed flashes of brilliance yet ultimately fell short. With 14 returning starters, including gunslinger Garrett Nussmeier, this feels like a make-or-break year for the Tigers.
Offensively, LSU lived and died by its scoring output in 2024—9-0 when clearing 24 points, winless when failing to do so. Ranked 19th nationally in total offense, they leaned heavily on the passing game, finishing sixth through the air. Nussmeier, who piled up over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns last fall, has both homegrown weapons and a wave of transfers at his disposal, including Nic Anderson (Oklahoma), Barlon Brown (Kentucky), and Destyn Hill (Florida State). Caden Durham returns after an impressive freshman year on the ground, while the offensive line must plug the hole left by NFL-bound Will Campbell.
Defensively, LSU made strides but still sat middle-of-the-pack nationally. Transfer additions like Patrick Payton (Florida State) and Jimari Butler (Nebraska) add much-needed bite up front, while a healthy Harold Perkins Jr. could be a game-wrecker.
