The Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings are set to clash on Sunday, Oct. 19, at U.S. Bank Stadium, with both teams looking to make a statement in this Week 7 matchup.
The reigning champs out of Philly came out of the gates looking like a well-oiled machine, ripping off four straight wins over heavy hitters like the Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams and Buccaneers. But their smooth start hit a snag in Week 5 when they stumbled at home in a 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos, raising a few eyebrows about their consistency.
As for the Vikings, it's been a roller coaster ride through the early stretch of the season. Minnesota has been trading wins and losses, sitting at an even .500 after their first four games. They edged out the Chicago Bears by a field goal in their opener, took a step back in a 22-6 loss to the Falcons, bounced back with a dominant performance against the Bengals, and then came up just short in a three-point defeat to the Steelers.

Minnesota Vikings team news
Are the Minnesota Vikings being upfront about their quarterback situation, or is head coach Kevin O’Connell just playing a little mind games ahead of Week 7?
The team is juggling between veteran signal-caller (and former Eagle) Carson Wentz and injured QB1 J.J. McCarthy, whose ankle is reportedly still not at full strength despite the extra rest. McCarthy's mobility could be a huge asset against a pass rush like Philadelphia's, a dynamic similar to what rookie Jaxson Dart exploited against the Eagles last week.
It's looking more like O'Connell is leaning into gamesmanship, trying to gain any psychological or strategic edge against the defending Super Bowl champions. McCarthy isn't the only potentially returning piece on offense either. Minnesota's line could get a boost, with three key linemen pushing to be available for Sunday.
Blake Cashman (hamstring) is back in the 21-day window from injured reserve and on track to play after nearly six weeks sidelined, crediting the team's health staff for bullet-proofing his hamstring. Joining him on the return-to-practice list Monday were Donovan Jackson (wrist), Michael Jurgens (hamstring), and Brian O’Neill (knee).
Not all news is positive: Aaron Jones (hamstring) has to miss at least one more game, Ryan Kelly (concussion) remains out indefinitely, and edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel (neck) is progressing with field workouts but isn’t cleared for game action yet.
The Vikings returned to action back on October 5 and managed to snap their skid with a clutch win over the Cleveland Browns. Trailing by three heading into the fourth quarter, Minnesota rallied late and punched in a decisive touchdown to secure a 21-17 victory. Carson Wentz turned in a sharp performance, going 25-for-34 with 236 yards and a touchdown.
Jordan Mason provided steady production on the ground, carrying the ball 13 times for 52 yards and a score. Justin Jefferson did what he does best, torching the secondary with seven catches for 123 yards to lead the receiving corps in the winning effort. Wentz showed flashes of his old self, and Mason continued to be that reliable presence between the tackles that the Vikings lean on.

Philadelphia Eagles team news
Meanwhile, against their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, the Eagles were handed another tough loss. Philadelphia went into halftime down by just three, but the wheels came off in the second half as they were shut out the rest of the way, ultimately falling 34-17 on the road. Jalen Hurts put up a respectable stat line, completing 24 of 33 attempts for 283 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Saquon Barkley led the ground game but couldn't get much going, finishing with 58 yards on 12 carries. Dallas Goedert was the bright spot in the passing attack, hauling in nine receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. Hurts also punched in a rushing score, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
Second-year cornerback Quinyon Mitchell suffered a hamstring injury during the Eagles’ Week 6 Thursday night loss to the Giants, exiting after just 13 snaps and failing to return. His availability for Sunday's Week 7 clash against the Minnesota Vikings is now uncertain.
With Mitchell sidelined, Kelee Ringo got the start over Adoree' Jackson on Thursday, though both saw action in the second half following Mitchell's exit. Both could see significant reps this weekend against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings if Mitchell can’t go, though defensive coordinator Vic Fangio admitted it "remains to be seen" whether the No. 1 corner will suit up.
This injury compounds a defensive unit already grappling with serious setbacks, including the sudden retirement of pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith and the heel injury that sidelined Jalen Carter in Week 6.

Vikings vs Eagles Fantasy Football
Week 6 was another frustrating outing for the Philadelphia offense. Jalen Hurts (21.2 projected W7 fpts) started strong on Thursday night but failed to capitalize on a few key chances. He missed DeVonta Smith on what could have been an 89-yard touchdown, then threw his first interception of the season on a critical fourth-quarter play from the 15-yard line while trailing by 10. When this offense clicks, though, Hurts has the arm and mobility to make it a fantasy QB1-worthy performance.
Meanwhile, defending Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley has struggled to find consistency through the first six games of 2025, managing only 325 rushing yards at 3.4 yards per carry. If the Eagles hope to recapture their 2024 form, getting Barkley back to reliable production is essential. That said, his floor and upside remain strong, which is why he's still considered a high-end fantasy option.
On the defensive side, uncertainty looms. Jalen Carter missed last week with a heel injury, Quinyon Mitchell is trending doubtful with a hamstring issue, and Za’Darius Smith retired midweek, further depleting the front seven.
Minnesota's quarterback situation adds another layer of unpredictability. Carson Wentz continues to battle a shoulder injury, while J.J. McCarthy is returning from an ankle injury that has kept him out since Week 2. Skill players may prefer Wentz under center for the passing game, but either QB shapes up as a matchup-based QB2 in fantasy.
Running back Jordan Mason (10.7 projected W7 fpts) salvaged his fantasy line with a touchdown despite a costly fumble. With Aaron Jones on IR, Mason remains the primary rusher, handling 16 touches.
Vikings vs Eagles Game Predictions
The Eagles have hit a rough patch over the last couple of weeks, clearly suffering from a post-Super Bowl slump. Their woes started with a bruising home loss to the Broncos and were compounded by a humiliating Thursday night defeat at the hands of Jaxson Dart and the Giants.
Luckily for Philadelphia, they draw the Minnesota Vikings at an opportune moment. Minnesota's offensive line remains a patchwork mess coming off the bye, and the quarterback situation is shrouded in uncertainty for Week 7. Even so, a misfiring Eagles offense won't have an easy time cracking Brian Flores' disciplined scheme and formidable front seven.
Philadelphia can still emerge from U.S. Bank Stadium with a win, but it would likely be a hollow victory, doing little to restore fan confidence. That said, even a struggling Philly attack carries enough firepower to flip a game in a heartbeat, keeping the Vikings on their toes.
