Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Miami Dolphins have stumbled out of the gate at 0-2 and now face the challenge of a short turnaround before squaring off with AFC East foe Buffalo.

The Bills, sitting pretty at 2-0, once again look every bit the standard-bearers of the division.

While Buffalo has hit the ground running, Miami has yet to shake off the cobwebs, struggling to find any real rhythm through the opening stretch of the season.

Buffalo Bills team news

Buffalo grabbed headlines in Week 1 with a dramatic comeback win over the Ravens, where Josh Allen turned it on late and carried the Bills to victory. Many expected another air show in Week 2 against the Jets, but the script flipped quickly. Allen didn't need to shoulder the load, finishing with just 148 passing yards as Buffalo leaned on the ground game and clock control to close things out.

That approach opened the door for James Cook, who stole the spotlight with a breakout performance, piling up 132 rushing yards and punching in two touchdowns. Meanwhile, the defense was nothing short of dominant, suffocating New York's passing attack by allowing only 54 yards through the air and piling up four sacks.

Now on a short turnaround before clashing with division rival Miami on Thursday Night Football, the Bills carry plenty of momentum. Allen, who also chipped in 59 rushing yards on six carries, might be sporting extra nose protection after his bumps last weekend but make no mistake, Buffalo's balanced attack and relentless defense look locked in heading into primetime.

Miami Dolphins team news

The Dolphins’ rough start to 2025 continued with a second straight defeat, this time at the hands of division rivals New England, dropping them to 0-2 and adding more weight to the growing whispers about Mike McDaniel's future. While Tua Tagovailoa's 315-yard passing day offered a glimmer of hope, the offense hasn't resembled the explosive, free-flowing unit that once defined McDaniel's tenure. Instead, Miami looked out of sync, and now they've got a short turnaround before squaring off against a Buffalo team that has come out firing.

The Dolphins aren't faring well injury-wise with their offensive line reshuffled yet again. Austin Jackson's toe injury, suffered during the second half of Miami's Week 1 loss to Indianapolis, has landed him on IR for the fourth time in his career, adding to a string of health concerns that have sidelined him for 26 games since 2022. He joins James Daniels, also out, leaving Miami scrambling to find stability on the right side of the line.

Larry Borom is expected to step in at tackle, while Kion Smith takes over at guard. The coaching staff is also weighing options like Cole Strange, Daniel Brunskill, and veteran swingman Kendall Lamm for added insurance.

On top of that, Miami elevated cornerback Cornell Armstrong from the practice squad, hinting that Ethan Bonner is unlikely to go against Bills, with Storm Duck also sidelined. The Dolphins also called up running back Jeff Wilson Jr. and kicker Riley Patterson, mirroring their Week 1 moves, while rookie Jaylen Wright remains doubtful with a knee issue.

Tight end Darren Waller is another name to monitor, though still on the active roster, his lingering injury has thrust Julian Hill and Tanner Conner into bigger roles.

Bills vs Dolphins Fantasy Football

The Bills come into this week with one of the most dynamic attacks in football, fueled by reigning MVP Josh Allen (23.7 projected points), who continues to be a nightmare for defenses with his dual-threat ability. Between his efficient passing and knack for finding the end zone with his legs, Allen is the clear-cut fantasy QB1 choice. Surrounding him is a strong supporting cast — James Cook (12.4 points), Keon Coleman (7.8 points), and Khalil Shakir (6.9 points) — all of whom carry reliable value in PPR leagues thanks to steady usage and consistent involvement in the offense.

On the other side, Miami's offense is stacked with star power, but their defense has sprung leaks, surrendering 33 points across their first two outings. Tua Tagovailoa (15.5 points) will lean heavily on his electric wideouts, Tyreek Hill (9 points) and Jaylen Waddle (7.5), who always bring WR1/WR2 upside, though Buffalo’s suffocating defense could temper their ceiling. De’Von Achane (12.6 points)is an intriguing but risky RB2 play — capable of breaking big runs, but just as likely to be bottled up against this disciplined unit.

Bills vs Dolphins Game Predictions

Right now, there's little reason to have confidence in Miami. The Dolphins have already surrendered 30-plus points to two middle-of-the-road offenses, and now they're staring down a Buffalo squad that looks capable of leading the league in scoring this season.

The Bills have been nearly untouchable at home, dropping just three games in Orchard Park since 2022, and they've already proven they can win both track meets and grind-it-out battles, just look at their Week 1 shootout victory over Baltimore.

Miami, meanwhile, has yet to cover a spread this year, falling short as a slight underdog on the road in Week 1 and again as a home favorite in Week 2. Mike McDaniel's group seems stuck in reverse, especially with a secondary that's been springing leaks since parting ways with Jalen Ramsey, Jevon Holland, and Jordan Poyer in the offseason.

On the flip side, Buffalo's defense shook off a rough opener by stifling the Jets to just 10 points in Week 2, setting the tone early and never letting up. Miami's attack showed a little more juice against New England, but it still only produced 20 points on offense, with one of its scores coming on special teams.
