This will be Sweden's first World Cup since 2006 after failing to qualify for the last two editions.
Only nine of the Blagult's squad have over 30 international caps so whilst getting close to the final probably isn't high on their list of priorities, getting out a group stage featuring South Korea, Germany and Mexico will be.
2018 World Cup Qualification
Sweden shocked Italy in the UEFA play-offs after beating the Azzurri 1-0 across two legs thanks to Jakob Johansson's goal.
Without the retired Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Blue-Yellow finished second in Group A behind France, who they famously defeated 2-1 when Ola Toivonen scored from the halfway line in the 93rd minute.
Marcus Berg netted eight times in the group stage as his side scored 26 goals in total, the most of any second-placed side in Europe as well as the eventual winners.
World Cup History
Sweden's best World Cup performance came way back in 1958 when they hosted the tournament and reached the final, only to lose 5-2 to a Pele-led Brazil team in Solna.
Since then, though, they have qualified for just seven of 13 World Cups with a third-place finish in 1994 the one time of those they have made it past the second round.
