Manchester City’s pursuit of the Premier League title in 2017-18 will see them sporting a new maroon away kit.

Get City at 15/8 to land the PL crown

Pep Guardiola’s side have moved away from the black jerseys they used on their travels during the Catalan’s first season at the helm.

They will instead have a bold look when away from home in the upcoming campaign, with summer signings Danilo and Ederson helping City with the launch of their latest offering.

City will give their new kit its first outing in an International Champions Cup clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

That contest is due to be staged at the famous Coliseum stadium in Los Angeles.

City will be hoping that a freshening up on the field delivers immediate results, with Nike taking inspiration from the past when piecing together the design.

Mendy: I always wanted Man City

A statement on the club’s official website read: “This is not the first-time maroon has featured in an away kit and as with many of the recent offerings, it is inspired by the Club’s rich history.

“Dark maroon was present on the shirt worn by the 1956 FA Cup winning team, while it is also included on the detailing of this year’s home kit, as a nod to the design worn by the league title winning side of 1967/68.

“There’s also room for the colour synonymous with Manchester City, with a sky-blue trim on the shirt and socks.

“If the design pays reference to the past, then Nike’s Aeroswift technology most certainly gives the kit a truly modern feel.

“As the most advanced apparel innovation to date, the Aeroswift kit has engineered knit zones on the shirt, which enhance fit when playing.

“The sides of the kit feature a black stripe with blue underlay that runs the length of the shirt and blue shorts, expanding when in motion to maximise ventilation.

“Finally, the City blue-trimmed socks incorporate NikeGrip technology for the ultimate foot-to-boot connection.”

City will open their 2017-18 Premier League campaign away at newly-promoted Brighton on August 12.
