Mosimane believes that their Nedbank Cup elimination will allow them to focus on defending the league title

Mamelodi Sundowns were stunned by Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon, crashing out of the Nedbank Cup as a result.

In the aftermath of their elimination, Pitso Mosimane was understandably frustrated, but the Brazilians’ coach chose to look at the positives on the day.

“It’s a duplicate of the game against Bloemfontein Celtic,” Mosimane said after the match.

“We knew about it, we were going to be caught on the counter and we have to play, what can we do?"

"Again, the goalkeeper today won man of the match," Mosimane continued.

“We trying but it’s not good enough. Somethings happen for a reason. So, we got to look at the positive side. Maybe it’s okay to leave the Nedbank (Cup) and focus on the (Caf) Champions League and the league because it’s unbelievable with the number of games and injuries, and I think the team played well. They really represented us well,” Mosimane added.

“We were just not lucky to score and sometimes we apply the wrong technique. When we are supposed to passi, we shoot, instead of shooting we pass, and it’s anxiety and players are human beings, this happens.

“We’ve been in control of all the games. From Cape Town City, we’ve been in control, so we have control all the time but unfortunately we not scoring."

The 52-year-old was also full of praise for young defender Motjeka Madisha, who put in a stellar performance at the heart of the Sundowns defense.

“My man of the match was Madisha. He did exceptionally well. You couldn’t even see that we didn’t have Bangaly (Soumahoro), Wayne Arendse or Ricardo (Nascimento). He did very well,” Mosimane concluded.
