The Phobians former midfielder has confirmed his willingness to become a football manager as soon as possible after enrolling for a course

Two years after hanging up his boots, former Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston has begun the process of becoming a certified coach after enrolling for a course in Winneba, Ghana.

The 36-year-old began his football career at Accra Great Olympics in 1999 before joining city rivals Hearts of Oak two years later. He also enjoyed a successful spell in Europe.

The course, which is being organised by Caf through Ghana Football Association, will provide participants with License B certificates.

“It’s true I am part of the coaches enrolling in the course in Winneba. I want to give to the society as a coach after hanging up my boots, so I'm doing everything possible to pass out successfully,” Kingston said.

“With determination, I will achieve every aim since I strongly believe local players have a lot to learn from my experience, therefore, I don't have to waste time,” he added.

Kingston represented Israeli side Maccabi Ahi Nazareth and Hapoel Tel Aviv as well as Vitesse Arnhem and Heart of Midlothian in Scotland.

He was a member of the Black Stars' squad that qualified to the nation’s first Fifa World Cup in 2006 but couldn't make the final list to the tournament due to a ban from Caf.

He boasts of 41 appearances and six goals for Ghana after making his debut in 2002.
