The football icon died 12 years ago but his former partner, Alex Best, claims spooky occurrences have convinced her that his spirit lives on

The ghost of Manchester United legend George Best is haunting ex-wife Alex Best, she has extraordinarily claimed.

Farewell, Frank Lampard - Chelsea's greatest player

Ms Best, who married the Northern Irish icon in 1995 and divorced a year before his death in 2005, has made several claims related to spooky occurrences over the past 12 years.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, the widowed former model said: "[It started] the morning of the funeral.

“I went to go, walked out the hotel door, and as I was walking past the bathroom every single tap and shower turned on.

“My friend was staying with me and she went 'oh my god!' - it's just strange things.

“I have a top, I've put it in my drawer and it won't be there. But then a week later it's there on my bed.

“I've got a massive chest of drawers, it takes three people to move it. The other day I looked, it had moved from the wall. You can see the carpet marks.

“There was a belt on the floor, and then it disappeared. But then a year later, it was back again.”

RUMOURS: Bayern plot Dele Alli bid

It's not the first time that Ms Best has alleged the Northern Irishman's spirit literally lives on, with the 44-year-old having opened up to The Sun about the strange happenings last month.

“I’m living with my ex-husband,” she said.

“It’s been going on since he passed away. This is the third house I’ve lived in and it’s still going on.

“He’s followed me, he’s part of the furniture. It doesn’t bother me really.”
