Football Kenya Federation vice-president Doris Petra has been elected as the Women representatives for the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa).
Petra was unanimously voted in during the regional body’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday in Nairobi, just a day before the official kick-off of Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.
The new Cecafa executive will have Abdiqaani Arab Said (Somalia), Burundian Aimable Habimana, Juneid Basha Tilmo (Ethiopia), Wallace Karia from Tanzania.
The race that had earlier attracted eight candidates saw Moses Magogo (Uganda), Vincent Nzamwita (Rwanda) and Kourecha Ali Gued from Djibouti withdrawing their candidature just minutes before the polls.
The five will now join Cecafa President, Sudanese Mutasim Gafar whose constitutional term runs till November 2019.
