Darkwah hopeful despite Ghana snub

Aduana Stars defender Daniel Darkwah says he is not bothered after being left out of Ghana's squad for the friendly games against Mexico and USA on June 28 and July 1 respectively in the United States.

The 22-year-old was handed his maiden Black Stars call-up by Kwesi Appiah ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia two weeks ago in Kumasi but was dropped for the USA trip.

“I have joined Aduana in camp for the Ghana Premier League game on Sunday because after training yesterday, I was told that I am not part of the players going for the trip,” Darkwah told Nhyira FM.

“It is any player's dream to play for his national team after being handed the opportunity to join but this will not affect me in anyway. It will rather motivate me to do well at my club because I'm very close to becoming a part of the team.

“Some players did not even earn a call-up so I have to be serious and hopefully, I can be called again and this time make an impact. I wish the players all the best,” he added.

Darkwah club teammate Joseph Addo and four other home-based players made the list.
