Bidvest Wits linked with AmaTuks defender Phelani Shozi

Defending PSL champions Bidvest Wits are reportedly lining up a move for AmaTuks defender Phelani Shozi.

Injuries to Buhle Mkhwanazi and Thulani Hlatshwayo who were both superb for the Students last season have seemingly forced Gavin Hunt to look for possible replacements ahead of the January transfer window.

They have conceded an alarming 11 goals in only seven matches to date, as they have battled in their attempt to defend the two titles they won last term.

Shozi comes highly-rated and has done well for AmaTuks in the National First Division so far this season.

Prior to joining Shaun Bartlett's side, he was on the books of ABC Motsepe League side EC Bees FC.

The 27-year-old has been a vital cog thus far in Tuks' quest to return to the elite league, making seven starts to date.

With just over two months before the January transfer window opens, it will be interesting to see whether or not Wits go full swing to get their man to strengthen its floundering defence that was rock solid last season.
