Arsenal’s Kelechi Nwakali joins MVV Maastricht for second loan spell

Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali has rejoined Dutch second tier outfit, MVV Maastricht on loan till the end of the 2017-18 season.

The 19-year-old was on parade for Dutch Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo for the first part for the season but was limited to game time with just nine league appearances and a goal to his name.

Nwakali who is tied to Arsenal until the summer of 2021 will be aiming to replicate his form in the 2016-17 season where he was vital in Ron Elsen’s team, with two goals in 29 appearances.

“After absence of half a season, MVV Maastricht sees attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali return to Stadion de Geusselt,” read a statement on the club website.

“Nwakali is, as in the 2016-2017 season, on loan from Arsenal until the end of the current season. The 19-year-old Nwakali is under contract with the English Premier League Club until June 2021.”

The midfielder is expected to add spice to Maastricht's midfield as they currently sit in 12th spot in the Eerste Division table with 26 points from 21 games – eight points from the promotion play-offs spot.
