The most pressing issue at Bayern Munich this summer is the future of Michael Olise, and the club's ability to retain their most valuable asset will shape the entire season ahead. Reports from L'Equipe and Sport Bild suggest the 24-year-old communicated a desire to join Real Madrid to French teammates during the World Cup, where he broke the all-time assists record with seven. Bayern have responded firmly, declaring him unsellable at any price and offering to nearly double his salary to around 25 million euros per year. Madrid, according to The Athletic and Mundo Deportivo, now consider a deal internally close to impossible, while Olise's agent reportedly told Bayern officials directly: "Make yourselves no worries, we stay." A clarifying conversation between player and club is expected imminently.

Beyond Olise, the squad returning to pre-season is a patchwork. Kompany had just six players available for initial fitness testing, with Kane, Musiala, Davies, Saibari, Gnabry and Lennart Karl all absent due to injury or post-World Cup rest. Musiala required surgery to remove a metal plate from his foot. Several will also miss the Asia tour in early August.

In the transfer market, Bayern have completed the signing of Ismael Saibari for 50 million euros from PSV Eindhoven and sold Noel Aseko to Eintracht Frankfurt.
