The Utah Utes look to bounce back at home when they welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to Rice-Eccles Stadium for a Big 12 showdown on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Colorado enters this week fresh off a bye, having edged Iowa State in their last outing to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. In that game, the Buffaloes jumped out to a 7-0 lead before trailing at halftime, then reclaimed control late in the third quarter and never looked back. Head coach Deion Sanders’ squad is hoping that the extra week of rest helps them claw back to .500 as the second half of the season kicks into gear.
Meanwhile, Utah had their two-game winning streak snapped in a tough road loss to No. 15 BYU in last weekend’s Holy War clash. The Utes dropped to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big 12 after surrendering 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Despite taking a 14-10 lead early in the final frame, Utah couldn’t finish strong, ultimately falling 24-21 in a game that slipped away late.

Utah vs Colorado news & key players
Utah Utes team news
The Utes, on the other hand, have found success through a bruising ground game and steady quarterback play. Devon Dampier has thrown for 1,375 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for another 442 yards and five scores.
Backup Byrd Ficklin has proven capable when called upon, tossing a touchdown and adding three rushing scores of his own. The backfield features a committee approach, with Wayshawn Parker (358 yards, 3 TDs) leading the charge alongside NaQuari Rodgers (300 yards, 6 TDs) and Daniel Bray (194 yards, TD).
In the passing game, Ryan Davis headlines the receiving unit with 46 receptions for 482 yards, while Dallan Bentley (335 yards, 3 TDs) and JJ Buchanan have emerged as key contributors. Kicker Dillon Curtis has been consistent, making 33 of 34 extra points and drilling five field goals, including a 54-yarder.
Statistically, Utah's offense ranks sixth in the nation in rushing (245 YPG) and 84th in passing (216.1 YPG). They sit 21st in scoring offense (36.9 PPG) and boast one of the nation’s stingiest defenses, allowing just 15.3 points per game—12th-best in the FBS. However, they’ll need to monitor injuries closely, with Andrews out for the season and Dampier questionable for this week's contest.
Colorado Buffaloes team news
For the Buffaloes, Kaidon Salter has been the offensive catalyst, completing 93 of 142 passes for 1,156 yards with nine touchdowns and four picks, while also contributing 270 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. Behind him, Ryan Staub (362 passing yards, three TDs) provides depth under center.
The ground game is led by Micah Welch, who’s churned out 277 yards and two touchdowns, while Simeon Price, Dekalon Taylor, Dallan Hayden, and Dre’lon Miller have each played supporting roles.
Through the air, Omarion Miller (371 yards, four TDs) and Joseph Williams (370 yards, three TDs) lead a balanced receiving corps. Sincere Brown and Taylor have also provided reliable production. Kicker Alejandro Mata has been near-perfect, converting all 22 extra-point attempts and four of five field goals. However, Colorado will be without Taylor (undisclosed) and could also miss Miller, who's questionable.
