Team news & squads
Club America team news
Club América approach this contest on the back of a mixed start to the Liga MX Apertura and a draw against Necaxa in their last outing. André Jardine’s side is stacked with attacking talent, but some key absences continue.
Star striker Henry Martín is sidelined with a thigh injury and will not feature, while creative midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo is still recovering from a knee injury. Jonathan Dos Santos and Alejandro Zendejas have recently dealt with knocks, and at least Dos Santos is unlikely to start. Brian Rodríguez and Israel Reyes are available and expected to play significant roles.
Real Salt Lake team news
Real Salt Lake enter buoyed by a recent 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes, climbing above the MLS Western Conference playoff line. Coach Pablo Mastroeni’s squad has regained some key contributors, though injury issues persist:
Right-back Javain Brown (ACL, out for the season), goalkeeper Zac MacMath (shoulder), and versatile midfielder Emeka Eneli (foot) are all sidelined. Brayan Vera was recently questionable due to illness but may make the squad, while Braian Ojeda has returned to the team after a recent time away and scored the winner last weekend.
