The Saturday afternoon Premier League encounter between Crystal Palace and Liverpool has all the makings of a blockbuster as two unbeaten sides with plenty of recent history go head-to-head.
Oliver Glasner's side extended their unbeaten run to 17 games in all competitions after beating West Ham 2-1 away from home. Star striker Jean Phillipe-Mateta was on target again as Tyrick Mitchell chipped in with a wonder goal to win the game. The unbeaten run has seen them lift two trophies in the FA Cup and the Community Shield. The Eagles got the better of Saturday's opponents, Liverpool, on penalties in the Community Shield after coming from behind twice in normal time. They even managed to keep club captain Marc Guehi, who was whiskers away from a deadline move to the Reds. A victory on Saturday would see them enter the top four.
Arne Slot's Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table last week after registering a massive victory in the Merseyside Derby. Goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike set them on their way to a 2-1 victory as Idrissa Gueye's second-half goal set up a thrilling finale. The Reds weren't all convincing, but got the job done again to pick up their fifth win in as many games. With new signings bedding further in each game, Slot will hope a perfect performance isn't far away. The midweek performance against Southampton was another scrappy affair as Alexander Isak got off the mark and Hugo Ekitike won the game and got himself sent off. Along with avenging the Community Shield, victory at Selhurst Park would see Liverpool go eight points clear of Arsenal ahead of their own difficult trip to face Newcastle at St James' Park.

Glasner confirmed Ismaila Sarr would be fit and available for the Liverpool clash last weekend. The Senegalese international's timely return helps them as they aim to pair new signing Yeremy Pino, who brushed off an injury scare, to start alongside Mateta. Eddie Nketiah also provides another option as he made a cameo off the bench against the Hammers. Cheick Doucoure's unavailability means the standard double pivot of Will Hughes and Adam Wharton. The in-form back five, which has conceded just 2 goals in five games, picks itself barring any late injuries.
Predicted lineup: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Sarr, Pino; Mateta

Slot rotated heavily midweek against Southampton. A lot of talented youngsters and bench options got a game as the manager kept his side happy. The only negative from the midweek fixture was the talented Italian Giovanni Leoni suffering an ACL injury after an impressive debut. The big-hitters will swiftly come into the lineup on Saturday. Isak will lineup at number 9 as Ekitike's silly red card keeps him out of the lineup. Cody Gakpo might be rotated as Federico Chiesa completed one of his best games in a Liverpool shirt on Tuesday. Florian Wirtz will take up the number 10 role, leading to fluid rotations on the left with Isak. Alexis MacAllister, who is struggling with fitness issues of late, is another option that could drop to the bench for the energetic Dominik Szoboszlai in the pivot alongside Gravenberch. Conor Bradley's energy down the right side will be key to locking up Palace's tricky left wing.
Predicted lineup: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak
The Last Meeting
Crystal Palace became the first debutants to win the Community Shield for 50 years in August. Palace booked a spot in the Community Shield for the first time ever, courtesy of their FA Cup triumph. The Reds entered the clash as Premier League champions.
Liverpool had as many as four new signings make their debut in the game, and started brilliantly when Ekitike - put them ahead in the fourth minute. Sarr was the usual party crasher for Liverpool as he won a penalty that Mateta duly converted. Another new signing, Jeremy Frimpong, saw his cross sail rather fortunately into the net as Liverpool restored their advantage in the 21st minute. The Reds looked destined to win the game until Sarr himself scored in the 77th minute to restore parity and force penalties. The Reds faltered in the shootout as Palace continued their love affair with Wembley.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Key Matchups
Guehi vs Isak - Marc Guehi could easily have been returning to Selhurst Park in Liverpool colours this Saturday. His head-to-head battle with either of Liverpool's new forward signings could decide the fate of this game. Guehi has quickly put the disappointment of not getting his move behind him and is in fine form to start the season. Isak will be keen to get off the mark for his new side and will stretch the defence with interchanges and last-man runs.
Wharton vs Gravenberch - The two midfield governor generals are in supreme form heading into the clash. After returning from an ankle injury, Wharton is looking back to his best and is pulling the strings for his side. His press resistance will hold the key to their chances. Gravenberch, meanwhile, has added a goal-scoring threat to his game and will test Palace more in the final third than he may have in the 2024-25 campaign. However, he should also be wary of the hosts' substantial counter-attacking threat when timing his runs forward.
Sarr vs Kerkez - Sarr loves scoring against Liverpool, dating back to his days at Watford. The Senegalese winger also had a big say in the Community Shield and will fancy his chances going against Milos Kerkez.
Kerkez has had a lukewarm start at Liverpool, but has shown some recent signs of finding his feet. The Hungarian fullback has done well against the likes of Noni Madueke, but also showed he is prone to errors and rash tackles. His temperament would be called into question up against Sarr.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Score Prediction
The last seven meetings between the sides were either decided by a single goal or on penalties. This tells you how tightly contested this matchup has been recently. Expect Liverpool to see plenty of possession throughout the game as Palace ask their opponents to break them down. The hosts will then fly forward if they got the slightest of invitations from their opposition. With Liverpool's transition defending still looking shaky and their forward line still searching for rhythm, there is a chance for Palace to grab one or all three points.
We expect it to be an edgy 1-1 draw where both sides feel they should've gotten more.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Odds
The Bookmakers predict Liverpool as favourites for the game and priced their win at 1.86. Crystal Palace getting a result is billed as an upset and is priced at 4.2 for all three points and 4.03 for a point.
