Yashin Trophy 2025: Emi Martinez aiming for hat-trick as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alisson and Hannah Hampton join World Cup winner on nominee lists for Ballon d’Or’s top goalkeeper prizes

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will see more prizes handed out than ever before, with top-performing goalkeepers from across the men’s and women’s game being recognised for the first time.

Leading lights from the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Champions League, WSL and NWSL have been included on two star-studded shortlists that include international pedigree aplenty.

World Cup winner Martinez enjoyed another productive year with Aston Villa and is looking to successfully defend his best goalkeeper title, but he faces fierce competition from Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League winner Donnarumma.

Alisson, Raya and Sels all caught the eye in the Premier League, while Morocco international Bounou is representing the Saudi Pro League as interest in that division continues to grow.

In the women’s game, Chelsea shot-stopper Hampton was the penalty shootout hero for England as the Lionesses defended their continental crown in dramatic fashion at Euro 2025.

Barcelona star Coll is widely regarded as one of the best keepers on the planet, while Germany international Berger produced one stunning save at this summer’s European Championship to further highlight what she is all about.

Argentina international Martinez has claimed the Yashin trophy in each of the last two years - dating back to his World Cup-winning heroics for Argentina at Qatar 2022.

Liverpool No.1 Alisson was the inaugural winner in 2019, with Italian custodian Donnarumma and Real Madrid keeper Courtois having also taken first prize since then.

The glitzy Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday September 22, 2025 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. UEFA has once again partnered with Groupe Amaury and L’Equipe as leading performers from across the globe see their remarkable achievements acknowledged.
