'I have already given in twice!' - Sergio Ramos' wife Pilar Rubio refuses to join Real Madrid icon in Mexico following his shock transfer to Liga MX side Monterrey

After following her footballer husband to Paris and Seville in recent years, after a 2021 exit from Real Madrid, Pilar Rubio is not prepared to do it anymore. Instead, while he heads to Mexico after signing a contract with Liga MX's Monterrey, she will stay at the family base in Madrid to focus on her own career as a Spanish television personality - as per the Daily Mail.

Journalist and YouTuber Javi de Hoyos has cited a source close to Rubio to suggest that she is fed up of moving around after doing it so much in recent years. 'Professional reasons' was what took her back to Madrid in the first place and that is where she will stay, regardless of the Monterrey situation. The 46-year-old has upcoming commitments on the television shows El Desafio and Maestros de la Costura Celebrity.

"Pilar Rubio will not move to Mexico with Sergio Ramos," De Hoyos is quoted as saying by several Spanish media outets. "Last Friday, someone close to Pilar told me that she was tired of moving. She went to Paris with him, then Ramos went to Seville. Later, she decided to go to Madrid for professional reasons. She really likes living there. When Ramos made this decision, she said: 'This time I will not give in, I have already given in twice. Now I am staying here, in Madrid. The family is staying here.' Sergio is going alone. She can no longer bear to have to move again."

Ramos and Rubio have been together since 2012 and later married in 2019. They have four sons together, with the oldest to turn 11 this coming May and the youngest born in 2020.

Ramos came out of what many assumed to be a natural retirement to join Monterrey, arriving in the early stages of the 2024-25 Clausura phase of the season. It is not yet known when the 38-year-old defender will make his debut, but when he does he be wearing the number 93 shirt, as chosen because it marks the minute of his defining goal in the 2014 Champions League final.
