  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United staged a late comeback against the Saints on Thursday night, coming from 1-0 down to win 3-1 late on thanks to Amad Diallo's sensational first hat-trick for the club. Understandably, there was an outpour of emotions from the players after they scored the winner in the dying embers and Zirkzee was seen crudely grabbing his crotch during the celebrations. Despite this being spotted, the Dutchman has avoided a ban for the gesture.

    WHAT WAS SAID?

The FA released a statement revealing there would be no retrospective action against the former Bologna man, but he was served a warning, saying: "As guidance, we have issued Joshua Zirkzee with a reminder of his responsibilities, and he will face no further action."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

It was less than a month ago that Zirkzee was jeered off by his own fans in the loss to Newcastle at Old Trafford. The young striker was seen running down the tunnel, reportedly on the verge of tears after a less-than-inspiring cameo. But the forward was hailed for his impact off the bench against Arsenal and Southampton and looks to have finally got his United career underway after a slow start.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ZIRKZEE?

Ruben Amorim may look to include Zirkzee in his starting XI against Brighton following his bright spell in recent weeks. The forward has only scored three times in the Premier League this season, once on the opening day against Fulham and a brace against Everton in December.
