World Cup Betting Tips: Costa and Isco lead the race to be Spain's top scorer but the best bet lies elsewhere

Spain manager Julen Lopetegui has admitted that he does not yet know who his starting striker will be for their World Cup opener against Portugal on Friday evening.

The coach has plenty of options to chose from and he knows if he finds a balance up front, La Roja have the talent to go a long way in the competition. But who will score the goals for the 2010 World champions?

Diego Costa

The Atletico Madrid forward is the shortest priced player in bet365's market to be Spain's top scorer offered at 7/2 (3.50). There remains a doubt however about how well Costa fits into the system Spain play and his seven goals in 20 appearances underline how he has struggled to adapt.

Those seven goals as well have come against Macedonia, Israel, Albania, Liechenstein and Luxembourg, with Costa netting his only goal against top quality opposition in a friendly against Argentina in March.

Isco

There is a distinct possibility that Lopetegui may opt to start without a central striker, an option he has used to good effect in the past. In this scenario Isco would likely play as a false nine and the Real Madrid man comes next in the betting at 5/1 (6.00). Isco has consistenly scored goals for La Roja over the last year with seven strikes in his last seven international games.

David Silva

The player with the most number of international goals in the current Spain squad is David Silva, with the Manchester City man have netted 35 times for his country. Indeed the 32-year-old is the fourth highest scorer in the history of the Spanish national team, while no player has scored more goals since Lopetegui took charge two years ago. Silva is offered at 6/1 (7.00).

Iago Aspas

Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas is also offered at 6/1 (7.00) and that could be an interesting price for a player who has netted 5 times in 348 minutes in a Spain shirt.

Aspas has been the top scoring Spaniard in La Liga for the last two years and of Spain's three strikers he is the one that perhaps fits into the system the best. Rodrigo Moreno is the other out and out striker in the squad as is also priced at 6/1 (7.00).
